Disgruntled St Kilda recruit Jake Carlisle has been suspended by the AFL for the start of the 2016 season.
The length of the ban will be two matches, and follows the recent decision by St Kilda to revisit and rewrite the defender's lucrative contract.
The suspension was a joint decision by the AFL and St Kilda representatives, which included skipper Nick Riewoldt's participation via phone.
It is believed Carlisle will still be able to participate in the Saints' 2016 NAB Challenge matches.
St Kilda will release a statement regarding the issue shortly.
