Essendon is reportedly ready to table a counter-offer for St Kilda after a tumultuous week surrounding Jake Carlisle's future.
According to Channel Seven's Tom Browne, Essendon will offer Carlisle and their third round pick (currently pick 44) in exchange for the closely guarded pick 5.
St Kilda caused a stir after it offered pick 5 in exchange for Carlisle and picks 24 and 25.
Essendon quickly refused this offer.
Late last week, Essendon was approached by Hawthorn who are willing to trade picks 15 and 18 for Carlisle, an offer Essendon's list manager, Adrian Dodoro, was more than satisfied with.
Carlisle himself reinstated his desires to join St Kilda's backline but is happy to play for Hawthorn if a deal cannot be agreed upon.
The AFL Trade period re-opens Monday morning.
