St Kilda and Jake Carlisle's manager have released a statement following Thursday's chaotic trade period.
Despite Hawthorn and Essendon set to mutually agree on a trade, the club and Anthony McConville are adamant the 24-year-old defender will play for the Saints in 2016.
It is believed that Hawthorn will offer picks 15 and 18 to the Bombers, which involves a three-way trade with North Melbourne.
"The club will continue to work with Jake's management and the Essendon Football Club to secure an appropriate trade that will give effect to Jake's wishes," St Kilda's COO Ameet Bains said as part of the club's statement.
It is believed Carlisle's preference still lies with St Kilda but is happy to join Hawthorn if a deal cannot be reached.
Channel Nine journalist Mitch Cleary has stated Carlisle has contacted St Kilda reiterating his desire to sign with the club.
